Honoring Roy Williams

The event is called “Late Night With Roy” for a reason.

Williams is entering his 15th season as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels in 2017 and has already created a legacy.

The coach completed his 10th season following the 2012-13 year and already had two national championships and three Final Fours under his belt in that time.

But at the 2013 Late Night With Roy event, the program decided to honor the legendary head coach.

The 2005 Final Four Most Outstanding Player of the Year, Sean May, helped open up a very special segment in 2013. May came out to talk about his former coach, telling Williams how much he meant to him.

May led into a video tribute of Williams featuring former players such as Tyler Hansbrough, Marvin Williams, Danny Green and Bobby Frasor among others who shared some kind words for the head coach.

Following the video, the camera panned on Williams who was choking up after receiving the special tribute.

With the Tar Heels unveiling another banner this year, we might have another video tribute coming to honor Williams legacy here at UNC.
