UNC in NFL: Tracking the Tar Heels in Week Four
By Grant Hughes
How did your favorite former University of North Carolina Tar Heels perform in Week 4 of the NFL season?
It was a week of redemption for former UNC Tar Heels in the NFL after a collection of poor performances last week.
Watching the current Tar Heels get blown out 33-7 by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets makes me wish I could see a few players on this list in Carolina Blue once again.
Giovani Bernard and Julius Peppers were the headliners this week.
Bernard went off for a 61-yard touchdown and now owns the Bengals’ longest rush and reception of the season. Peppers notched two sacks against Tom Brady, bringing his season total to 4.5.
The biggest headline this week comes from someone who failed to see the field in Mitch Trubisky.
Bears head coach John Fox confirmed Trubisky will make his first NFL start in a Monday night matchup against the Vikings.
While one Tar Heel is on the rise in Chicago, kicker Connor Barth may be finding his way out. After missing a 47- yarder this week, a few more poor performances might mean his days in a Bears uniform might be numbered.
Receiver Mack Hollins has yet to make a catch after hauling in three balls in Week 2. Fellow wideout Ryan Switzer got his first action on offense with a three-yard rushing play.
Switzer racked up the return yards, but a costly fumble on a punt return marred his night.
