It was not a good week for the NFL’s collection of former University of North Carolina Tar Heels.
After a Week 2 which saw a lot of Tar Heels in action, Week 3 was just a little less exciting for former standouts at the university.
No Tar Heels had extraordinary performances but a few were still able to remain in the spotlight.
Giovani Bernard was the only former Tar Heel to find the end zone this week, and it came in a slugfest against the Green Bay Packers. While Bernard was on the losing end, it was still a promising performance for the Bengals.
Former Packers stand out Julius Peppers remained in the headlines for completely different reasons as he was the only member of the Carolina Panthers to protest during the National Anthem.
The NFL and Sports world was dialed in on recent comments by President Donald Trump as teams used their own ways to show support for unity.
After making his first receptions of his career last week, Mack Hollins was held silent in a matchup against the New York Giants.
Ryan Switzer continues to look for the first reception of his career while fellow wideout Bug Howard may have found a new home.
And Mitchell Trubisky is still on the bench as the Bears notched their first win of the season.
