2017 ACC Football: Coastal Division Power Rankings week 4
Chattahoochee
The Chattahoochee river runs between the border of Alabama and Georgia. If anyone knows about things that run through Georgia, it’s the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech is the top-ranked team nationally in rushing yards per game. That is in huge part to star quarterback TaQuon Marshall who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns against Pittsburgh this past weekend. Marshall has been everything for the Yellow Jackets.
Luckily for him, he may have found himself a running mate in KirVonte Benson. Benson rushed the ball 29 times against the Panthers for a game-high 192 yards and two scores.
In the two games before this Benson had 150 yards combined. Georgia Tech will be tough to beat if teams have to game plan for both Marshall and Benson. This is when Paul Johnson’s triple option offense is the most dangerous.
If things keep up for the Yellow Jackets, they make it a real Chattahoochee affair by playing for a chance to meet Alabama in the college football playoff.
Georgia Tech will look to continue to rush their way up the rankings when they welcome in UNC this season.
The Tar Heels have won the past three meetings of this series and will be looking to make it four in Atlanta.
It could also help them get on track in the conference schedule.
