Don’t Rock the Jukebox

The song Don’t Rock the Jukebox is about not changing things up. What is working is just fine the way it is. In other words, don’t rock the boat.

That’s exactly where Virginia is at currently.

The Cavaliers are 3-1 for the first time since 2007. That year they went 9-4 and finished second in the Coastal. That team had defensive end Chris Long and was one of the last good Cavalier teams (2011 was the other).

Though Boise State is not a traditional Power Five program, the Broncos have been a dangerous team for Power Five programs for many years.

The fact that the Cavs went into the field of Blue and came out as 19 point champs is a testament to where Bronco Mendenhall has taken this program in his second season as head coach.

The Cavaliers may have also finally found a running back to help ease the load of their veteran passer Kurt Benkert in Jordan Ellis. Ellis has rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns in the past two games.

A focus on the run game will open things up for Benkert who finished with 273 yards and three scores against Boise State.

If the Cavaliers can keep this up they may want to rock the jukebox as they travel up the Coastal standings. Next up for Virginia is a bye week followed by their first conference game of the season against an undefeated Duke team which ranks fifth nationally against the run.
