UNC is one of three teams to get a visit with 2018 forward Simi Shittu

The North Carolina Tar Heels are currently one of three teams that have an official visit set with a top recruit in the 2018 class.

Five-star forward Simi Shittu continues to show interest in the Tar Heels, just a month after listing them in his top 10 teams.

Now, Shittu has listed off three of his five official visits to some of those schools on his list and UNC has made the cut.

Shittu made the announcement on Thursday night, posting this image to Twitter:

As you can see above, of the schools listed UNC will have the third visit. He will visit Vanderbilt of the SEC on October 6th then hold off on other visits until Arizona on November 3.

Just a week later Shittu will be in Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels season opener against Northern Iowa on November 10.

Shittu could take his other two visits but he told Scout that those would come after the season.

After cutting his list down to 10, it appears these three teams along with South Carolina are the potential finalists for the power forward.

Shittu praised UNC head coach Roy Williams when talking with Scout’s Evan Daniels on Thursday night:

"“He likes the way I play and he said he’s never had a player like me before and he could use me in a number of different ways,” Shittu said. “He’s very upfront with his guys. He doesn’t beat around the bush and he tells you how it is. He’s been through it all college basketball wise and he’s very experienced and knows a lot about the game.”"

Following his three scheduled visits, Shittu will likely evaluate his recruiting and hopefully make a decision.

In the interview with Scout, Shittu said he doesn’t want to think about committing while playing in his senior season of high school but said that committing during the year isn’t out of the question.

The Tar Heels have offers out for three power forwards and three small forwards in the 2018 class, although Rechon Black has been recently listed as a small forward on some recruiting sites.

UNC has targeted Shittu, Darius Days and Nate Laszewski as power forwards, all top 100 players in the class. They are currently trending to land the No. 7 overall player in the 2018 class in Nassir Little according to 247 Sports.

If UNC can land both Little and Shittu, that would give them two top 10 players to go along with Black and Coby White who are both top 75 players.
