Coby White, Rechon Black among top five in Prep Hoops NC 2018 rankings

Prep Hoops North Carolina released its updated 2018 statewide rankings, and two future Tar Heels landed in the top five.

Coby White and Rechon Black, teammates on Chris Paul’s Team CP3, were listed first and third, respectively, in Prep Hoops’ latest class of 2018 rankings.

White is a 6-foot-4, 170-pound North Carolina native that had an impressive junior season for Greenfield School, leading his team to a 23-11 record and an appearance in the North Carolina Independent Schools’ 1A semifinal. He was subsequently named an NCISAA 1A all-state pick after averaging 31.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

Over the last few months, White has steadily increased his stock according to a number of recruiting outlets, including the 247Sports Composite, which now lists him at No. 25 overall.

Black is a 6-foot-7, 180-pound point guard from Concord, North Carolina who spent last season at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He recently decided to move home for his senior season and attend Cox Mill High School, where he will be closer to his family and surrounding community.

Black is currently the No. 64 prospect in the class of 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s considered a top-15 point guard in the class and one of the top prospects in the state of North Carolina.

Also on the list is North Carolina target and Cannon School senior wing Jairus Hamilton. The 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward came in at No. 6 on the list, and is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of North Carolina.

He’s currently No. 63 in the 247Sports Composite Ranking and has an overwhelming Crystal Ball prediction favoring N.C. State.
