Till I Can Make It on My Own

Daniel Jones has finally made it on his own. The sophomore quarterback is tearing it up this season.

Jones already has 518 passing yards and four touchdowns this season. He also has 127 rushing yards and three more scores. In other words, he is more than capable of leading his team to victory. He has also helped Duke to an ACC leading 101 points on the season.

The defense has also proved it can make it on its own. The Blue Devils are allowing only 131.5 yards and 12 points per game. Last week they did it against an FCS opponent. This week it was against a Power Five squad.

Scoring on this team is going to be tough.

Brittain Brown showed he may still need a little more time until he can make it on his own. A week after busting it out for 120 yards, Brown managed only 29 against the Wildcats. It can happen.

The 2-0 start has been a bit of a surprise but once you toss in the play of Jones and the defense, it seems reasonable. Of course, this all goes back to the coaching of David Cutcliffe who long ago showed he could make it on his own.

Duke’s next opponent is Baylor. The Bears travel to Durham a pitiful 2-0 having lost at home to both FCS Liberty and CUSA native UT San Antonio.
