Every Mile a Memory

Though Georgia Tech lost this week by one to Tennessee, they still showed they were a force to be reckoned with as they ran up the miles on the Volunteers to the tune of 535 rushing yards. That’s a memory Vols coach Butch Davis will not soon forget.

Obviously, concerns regarding the team’s triple option are also a distant memory.

It also appears that Georgia Tech has found a replacement for departed quarterback Justin Thomas, in Taquan Marshall. Marshall finished the game with 369 total yards of offense and five touchdowns.

They also found a solid replacement for dismissed B back Dedrick Mills in running back KirVonte Benson who finished with 124 rushing yards and a score as well.

Georgia Tech’s defense also looked good holding Tennessee’s offense to 369 total yards and only 18 first downs. In fact based on the overall numbers the Yellow Jackets should’ve won this game.

However, they didn’t because conservative Paul Johnson went for two in the second OT. Give Johnson credit for trying, though one may wonder why he chose to pass for the two instead of run for it, especially considering all the miles he had racked up.

If he had run it, those last two miles would’ve been the biggest memory of all. The Yellow Jackets get a chance to run up more miles this week as they take on Jacksonville State.
