ACC Football: Coastal Division Power Rankings week 1
Settle for a Slowdown
A slowdown is exactly what Duke may be hoping for after an opening demolishing of FCS opponent North Carolina Central. However, unlike the Cavaliers, Duke’s next two games, though both at home, are against a slightly bit better level of competition and only get tougher from there.
But before that let’s give the Blue Devils props for doing what they should due to a lesser albeit a top tier FCS opponent. Duke scored 60 points and put up 524 total yards of offense against the Eagles.
Quarterback Daniel Jones completed 76 percent of his passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns while Brittain Brown busted out with 120 rushing yards and a score on just 10 carries.
Additionally, the defense also played strong holding North Carolina Central to just seven points and only 158 total yards of offense.
Jones and Brown will see if their outstanding play can hold up against FBS competition when they welcome in Northwestern this week. The Wildcats are coming off a 31-20 win over Nevada where they too put up over 500 yards of total offense.
