Justin Jackson returns home to Houston to help raise money for Hurricane Harvey victims
Hurricane Harvey made its landing on the Houston area nearly a week ago dropping nearly 52 inches of rain in some parts.
Major flooding have caused chaotic scenes in Houston with homes, buildings, schools, and streets all under water.
On Wednesday, the flood waters started dropping providing a glimpse that things are getting better for those in the area.
The sun even came out, something that hasn’t happened in five days there.
With the natural disaster leaving impacting many, there have been millions of dollars in donations sent to the city.
Now there’s word that a charity basketball game featuring NBA stars will happen in September and former UNC standout Justin Jackson will participate in it.
ABC 10’s Sean Cunningham out of Sacramento is reporting that Jackson and his Kings’ teammate De’Aaron Fox will participate in the game:
Both Jackson and Fox are both from the Houston area, playing their high school ball there before attending their respected schools.
They even played against eachother twice this season with Jackson and the Tar Heels earning the nod to the Final Four back in late March.
The duo is just the latest to give back to the disaster relief in Houston.
Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander has donated $10 million, Houston Texans star J.J. Watt is raising money with a new goal of $10 million and the Houston Astros have donated $4 million.
But that’s only a few. SB Nation put together a list of pro athletes and teams that have donated to the cause.
There is no word on when or where this charity game will take place but it will generate proceeds for disaster relief.
