A top player in the 2018 recruiting class is cutting his list down to just seven teams

For the second time in the last 24 hours, the North Carolina Tar Heels have made the final list for a 2018 recruit.

With the 2018 recruiting class being very important for Roy Williams and the Tar Heels, Monday’s news is pretty big.

Five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford is narrowing his list down and focusing on just seven schools according to his father.

He’s cut his list down to UNC, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, UCLA, Kansas and Vanderbilt.

As you can see there are some big time programs on his list and rightfully so. Langford is a top five recruit in the 2018 class and regarded as the best shooting guard in the class.

He’s an instant impact player for a program but the Tar Heels will have some stiff competition.

Langford doesn’t have any visits lined up yet but Scout is reporting that he hopes to set them up soon and make a visit to all. His decision will likely come in the Spring, so we are still a long way from that.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard was dealing with back issues, keeping him out of most of the summer circuit. He played for Team USA at the U19 World Championships coached by John Calipari in July, but it didn’t go so well and some think that Kentucky is now trending down.

247 Sports’ Crystal Ball predictor has the Louisville Cardinals with a 60 percent chance of landing Langford and Indiana in second at 20 percent. We should note that Duke is third in that predictor, but didn’t make the cut for the final seven.

The Cardinals and Hoosiers may have the edge for Langford as the recruit plays in New Albany, Indiana.

But don’t count the Tar Heels out just yet as they hoping to build a big 2018 class.

UNC has Rechon Black and Coby White already signed and have targeted their fair share of big men in the class.
