Can Fedora make up for poor play calling in the past?

There is no question that coach Larry Fedora has been known to make some questionable play calling throughout the last couple of years.

Whether it be the Virginia Tech game this past year in a rain storm, where the Hokies ran the ball 66 times compared to just 17 passing attempts and the Tar Heels threw the ball 33 times and ran it only 29, or the season opener against Georgia where Fedora ran the ball only 16 times even though T.J. Logan was averaging 13.3 yards per carry, and Hood 7.2.

Or back in 2015 when they played South Carolina and Elijah Hood only ran the ball only 12 times when he was averaging better than 10 yards per carry.

All three of those games resulted in losses, and away from the Virginia Tech game, the other two should’ve been won by the Heels.

No coach who is extremely involved in play calling will always call a great game, but there have been numerous games, and I have pointed out just a couple, where fans and analysts have questioned Fedora’s ability to call consistent games.

Since his time at Carolina, Fedora has made Carolina’s offense much more explosive than it was before his arrival, so we have to thank him for that. But since he has made it that much better, it is time for him to make the play calling much more consistent.
