5. Mike Fox

Mike Fox is not only one of the best Tar Heel coaches of all-time, but he may be one of the best baseball coaches of all-time.

In nineteen years, Fox has led the Diamond Heels to repeated dominance. He has never had a losing season, and has only missed the NCAA Tournament three times. He was won 40 games fourteen times in nineteen seasons.

But while Fox has been the perfect model of a coach, he does not have the crown jewel. He has been to the College World Series six different times, and the final series twice, but has never won the National Title.

And while Fox does not have that title, he does have tons of victories. He has 840 wins at UNC, and he has a career record of 1376-496.

He has the 17th most wins of any college baseball coach ever.

And don’t discount Fox because he doesn’t have a championship yet. He’s coming off what might be his best season, despite not having the postseason success that North Carolina fans hoped for.

He could be the next coach to cross off that first national title on his list.
