10. Mack Brown

While Brown never won a national title, his contributions to building the North Carolina football program are endless.

Brown established a winning culture at UNC, something that is not easy to do. He briefly made a basketball school believe its football team could compete with anybody.

While the end was great, not everything was perfect under Mack Brown. He suffered through back to back 1-10 seasons to begin his tenure. Carolina could have easily cut Brown loose after that, but it was a wise decision to retain him.

The next season, Brown quickly righted the ship. He went 6-4-1, then followed that with a 7-4 season.

In 1992, Brown led the Tar Heels to a 9-3 season, including their first bowl win in six years. He beat Mississippi State in the Peach Bowl, finishing the season on a high note.

As everybody knows, Brown then left a few years later for Texas. He returned the Texas program to national prominence, including a National Championship in 2005 over USC. That game against USC is still widely considered one of the best college football games of all-time.
