UNC commits Coby White and Rechon Black participate in the annual Nike EYBL Peach Jam

The premier event of the AAU Summer Circuit is currently taking place in South Carolina as the nation’s top recruits are participating in the Peach Jam.

That includes two class of 2018 University of North Carolina Tar Heels recruits Coby White and Rechon Black.

The two are teammates for Team CP3 out of North Carolina but so far have struggled. They finished 1-4 in round robin play, failing to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Their only win came on Friday, beating Meanstreets (Illinois) 86-77 in the night session of the tournament.

But with Team CP3’s struggles, one thing remains consistent. White continues to show how good of a player he is even while being hurt.

The News & Record’s Brant Wilkerson tweeted out that White landed on his hip prior to the tournament and has been playing injured:

White had a big game against BABC by scoring 27 points in the 75-67 loss on Thursday. He turned in performances of 8, 12, 13 and 14 in his other four games.

The UNC commit is coming off a Spring circuit where he elevated his game and impressed multiple scouts. White even saw his ranking in the 2018 class increase.

As for Black, he put together a 15-point performance in the team’s 91-70 loss to RM5 Elite out of Texas.

In his four other games, Black tallied point totals of 5, 6, 12 and 13.  Black’s signature moment came during a loss Friday morning where he skied for a monster dunk:

UNC head coach Roy Williams has been in attendance for the tournament, scouting his two commits and a few potential targets including Nassir Little.

The Tar Heels have shown interest in the 2018 target recently, even calling Little’s AAU coach to say they are intrigued.

Williams is among several coaches in attendance checking out the next potential stars of college basketball.

During the daytime, Williams headed over to the adidas Gauntlet Finale down in Spartanburg, South Carolina where Zion Williamson was participating. Williams was joined by Coach K and scouts from Kentucky watching Williamson.

He headed back to the Peach Jam for the Friday night session to watch Team CP3’s final game in the tournament.
