The University of North Carolina is known as a basketball school, but has produced some excellent football players over the years

In particular, there have been a great deal of running backs from UNC who were exceptional at both the college and professional level.

For this article, we will review the 10 best running backs from UNC. Included in the ranking of each running back is career rushing yards, career touchdowns (overall and rushing), number of rushing attempts, individual awards, number of 1,000-yard seasons and all-purpose yards.

After going through this list, you might be surprised to see how many good running backs have played at UNC over the years.

But first, let’s look at our honorable mention.

Honorable Mention:

T.J. Logan (2013-16)

T.J. Logan was more than just a running back for the Tar Heels. He one of the Tar Heels’ best kickoff returners during his time at UNC as well.

Logan holds the record for highest average yards per kickoff return (27.2). He ranks second all-time in career kickoff return yards (2,098), trailing only UNC wide receiver Brandon Tate (2,688).

Logan holds the record for most UNC career kickoff returns for a touchdown (five). He ranks fourth all-time in all-purpose yards (4,926). Logan’s 2016 all-purpose yards total ranks eighth all-time at UNC a single season (1,584 in 2016).

He’s currently a rookie for the Arizona Cardinals.
