Final Thoughts

I have always felt it was in the best interest for both Notre Dame and the ACC to become full time members in all sports. Up until recently the money was the biggest deterrent.

With the new ACC network that is no longer a real problem.

For the ACC they add yet another great program to the conference. With two of the past four National Champions residing here already, it just helps make the ACC even tougher and better overall, which helps in recruiting and prestige.

Add in the gained cost of a sixteenth school and the potential revenue of the conference semifinals and there is no reason the ACC would say no to this deal.

For Notre Dame, it comes with several bonuses. The first is the additional money gained from the ACC network. The NBC deal runs through 2025, but I am sure something could be worked out in regards to that for the network, the school, and the conference.

The second bonus is the opportunity gained for championships. Again unless something changes, it is clear that Notre Dame will struggle to get the same respect as a conference champ. In the ACC, that no longer exists.

So, even though Jack Swarbrick may be happy with the way things are, if he takes the time to consider everything he and the ACC could be a whole lot happier down the road.
