2018 Targets & offers

With the 2018 recruiting period still in early stages, the Tar Heels have a number of recruits still on their board.

The Tar Heels will lose both Joel Berry and Theo Pinson to graduation in 2018 and if Tony Bradley comes back for his sophomore season, he will leave in 2018 as well.

Class of 2017 recruit Jalek Felton is a candidate to be a one-and-done player, although that is unlikely.

Either way, UNC will have to reload eventually and the 2018 class could be that big one for Williams and his staff.

The top target on UNC’s list is phenom Zion Williamson.

By now you’ve probably seen the jaw-dropping highlights of Williamson throwing down monster dunks as he’s made his way to the top of the recruiting rankings. Williamson is ranked as the 2nd-best recruit in the class among many sites and for good reason too.

The 6-foot-7 forward is considered as the next big can’t miss prospect and has an offer from UNC already.

The Tar Heels will have a lot of competition, however.

Williamson has interest from Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Clemson among others. Williams has already visited Williamson in 2017 and has watched the recruit play several times.

It will be interesting to follow his recruiting process as the year goes on.

UNC could be looking to add another point guard in the class as well. Charlotte native Devon Dotson is high on UNC’s list and is a four-star point guard that could come in and find playing time right away.

The Tar Heels have been recruiting Dotson hard.

He’s currently the No. 1 recruit in the state of North Carolina and would be a big in-state get for Williams. Dotson has gotten significantly better over the last year or so and is starting to get noticed a lot more.

Dotson has offers from UNC, Kansas, Arizona, N.C. State and Florida among others. But while Dotson is a in-state recruit, former UNC assistant C.B. McGrath was the main recruiter for the prospect.

With McGrath gone, it could impact Dotson’s recruitment with UNC.

UNC’s interest in Romeo Langford has also increased. Williams took a visit to meet with the shooting guard, who is the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2018 class.

Langford would give UNC a true shooting guard with a deadly touch from the outside.

He has an offer from UNC and is high up on their board. The Tar Heels will have a tough battle for Langford as he’s drawn interest from Duke, Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana.

Along with those recruits, here are others on UNC’s board:

The recruit that makes the most sense for UNC right now is Jairus Hamilton. The Tar Heels have watched Hamilton and the interest continues to grow.

He could be the next in-state big man that Williams lands.

UNC is also doing some more work on Little. According to Zag’s Blog, Williams has called Little and will be watching him in July along with assistant Steve Robinson.
