2018 commitments

Williams and his staff have already landed two big recruits in their 2018 class.

Guards Rechon “Leaky” Black and Coby White have already verbally committed to UNC and are both four star composite recruits according to 247 Sports.

Black was the first recruit to commit to the Tar Heels, announcing his decision in January of 2016.

The 6-foot-5 point guard gives UNC another guard in their future, with Seventh Woods currently on the roster and combo guard Jalek Felton coming in. Black will play his senior year at Montverde Academy in Florida.

Black is the 38th ranked recruit in the ESPN Top 60 for the 2018 class and listed as a four-star guard.

With Black coming in as a point guard, White will enter UNC as a combo guard and assume the role of shooting guard.

The recruit out of Wilson, North Carolina gave his verbal commitment in July of 2016 just a few months after Black announced.

The two are teammates on the CP3 AAU team, which is currently participating in the summer circuit.

White stole the show at the EYBL circuit showcase in Indianapolis at the end of April and he has reporters raving about his game.

White is currently the 33rd ranked recruit in ESPN’s Top 60, giving UNC two players in that class.

With the additions of both Black and White, UNC’s 2018 class is off to a great start. It’s currently ranked as a Top 5 class, though early in the stages.

The Tar Heels are also in the running for more targets and can truly build a special class if they can land a few more recruits.
