Will Kevin Knox choose UNC? His decision will be made this Saturday and he’s down to five schools

Class of 2018 prospect Kevin Knox is ready to make his college decision, just weeks after delaying it.

According to Jake Perper of Prep Hoops scouting, Knox will officially announce his decision this Saturday.

Knox is down to UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Florida State and Missouri. The Tigers were a late addition to Knox’s list as he took a visit to Mizzou a few weekends back.

There was a report that Missouri was eliminated, but Knox’s father refuted that report quickly.

Although Perper reports it’s Saturday, the decision could come Sunday according to Jonathan Alexander of the News & Observer.

Here’s what Alexander wrote:

"Kevin Knox Sr. said the family should know the younger Knox’s direction by Friday and that the high school senior will “probably announce Saturday or Sunday.”"

Many believe it’s a two-team race with Tobacco Road powerhouses Duke and UNC leading the charge for Knox. The edge has been given to Duke in 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball predictor but UNC has picked up some steam.

The Tar Heels lost Justin Jackson to the 2017 NBA Draft, so a player like Knox can come in right away and start. He can play valuable minutes and fill the role Jackson had for the national champions in 2016-17.

UNC already has a nice 2017 class headlined by Jalek Felton and recent commit Garrison Brooks.

They also bring in Andrew Platek, Brandon Huffman and Sterling Manley. But the addition of Knox will bump their class up significantly in the rankings.

It’s been a long recruiting process for the wing out of Tampa Bay. He played in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Game in April and delayed his decision.

After taking a visit to Missouri, Knox announced his decision would come sometime in the first week of may.

Now with the deadline looming, it’s time for Knox to announce his big decision. Will he pick UNC or will the Tar Heels be left out?
