Danny Talbott played two seasons as a quarterback for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He played during a time when most quarterbacks did not have huge passing statistics.

Talbott passed for 1,000 yards in a season once. He had more interceptions than touchdowns throughout his career.

In fact, Talbott completed 196 of 385 passes (50.9%) for 2,018 yards along with seven touchdowns and 25 interceptions with a quarterback rating (QBR) of 88.

In 1965, Talbott was the ACC Player of the Year. Although he had three touchdowns and 13 interceptions that season, he ran for 10 touchdowns.

Oddly enough, he ranked first in the ACC in total yards (1,481), pass completions (103), total touchdowns (10) and interceptions (13). In addition, he ranked third in completion percentage (47.5%), fourth in rushing yards per attempt (4.1), fourth in passing yards per attempt (five) and fourth in passer efficiency rating (82%).

He also finished second place in total passing touchdowns and touchdowns from scrimmage (seven).

Due to these accomplishments, Talbott’s No. 10 jersey hangs in Kenan Stadium among other honored jerseys.

Talbott represents the only UNC quarterback who has an honored football jersey. Talbott was a 2003 inductee into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
