Mitchell Trubisky reveals why he got the nickname “Mr. Biscuit” and speaks on his NFL future

The 2017 NFL Draft in Philadelphia is just two weeks away and University of North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky could hear his name called right away.

Trubisky will likely be taken in the first round and could see his name called in the top 10 on the opening Thursday of the draft. With teams needing a quarterback in the top 10, Trubisky has been mocked to several different teams.

On Monday, Trubisky joined “The Dan Patrick Show” to discuss his offseason activities and reveal some teams he’s met with.

Trubisky revealed that he’s had meetings with the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

Every single one of those teams is picking in the top 10 and the Browns have both the No. 1 overall pick and the No. 12 overall pick in the first round. He could end up playing for the team he grew up rooting for, in Cleveland.

Trubisky was also asked about his nickname and what people should call him as he gets ready to enter the league. He revealed that his nickname is actually “Mr. Biscuit,” something UNC fans already know.

But why did he get that nickname?

Well according to Trubisky, the coaches at North Carolina came up with that name.

“When I was a freshman, some of the coaches were out one night and I guess one of their family members was talking about me and kinda stuttered or murmured my first and last name,” Trubisky said. “One of the coaches thought they said ‘Mr. Biscuit.’ Then it just kinda caught on at practice the next week. So it was Mr. Biscuits and the football was the biscuit.”

With a nickname like that, it has to stick in the NFL.

As for when he gets to the NFL, Trubisky says he’s ready to be that guy for a franchise. Whether it’s one of the teams that’s he has visited or another.

Some scouts have questioned whether or not Trubisky is actually ready for the NFL, starting just 13 total games.

But the former UNC product is certainly ready and confident.

Listen to what he says below:

If Trubisky is indeed selected No. 1 overall, he will become the first UNC player to become the top overall pick.

Both Julius Peppers and Lawrence Taylor went No. 2 overall in their respective drafts. Trubisky also revealed that he will be in Philadelphia for the 2017 NFL Draft.
