Roy Williams finally defeats the Kansas Jayhawks

Much has been made about head Coach Roy Williams’ struggles against his former program. Most notably, the 2007-2008 team got routed by the Jayhawks in the Final Four that season.

Williams is 0-3 against Kansas since making his return to his Alma Mater. The 2008 game, 2012 (without Kendall Marshall), and in 2013 as an eight seed losing by twelve. It is fair to say that Kansas has had his number.

But this Kansas team is different. While they are still a one seed, they lack a dominant big man. Sure, they have great guards in Frank Mason and Devonte Graham, and Josh Jackson appears to be Andrew Wiggins Jr., but their only legitimate big man is Landen Lucas.

Carolina would be able to get into the paint at will, scoring easy buckets against Kansas. If the Heels can also get Lucas in foul trouble, they would have a field day in the paint.

UNC certainly has the back court talent to matchup closely with Kansas. Berry and Frank Mason would be an incredible matchup for us all to watch.

Devonte Graham and Pinson would be a wash. But perhaps the best matchup would be Josh Jackson and Justin Jackson. Two of the premiere small forwards going head to head in the Final Four.

Roy Williams seems to be due for a big win over Kansas. He has not done it yet, but what better time than the present?

This team would have to do it in Phoenix, during the Final Four, with the winner moving on to the national championship game.

We would all be lucky to see such a great game!
