Donald Williams – 1993 NCAA Championship vs. Michigan

Donald Williams was on fire in the 1993 Final Four.

In the national semifinal, Williams scored 25 points against the Kansas Jayhawks and then head coach Roy Williams.

In the national championship game against Michigan, Williams scored 25 points.  Williams was 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Five of Williams’ field goals were three-pointers.

At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Williams was guarded by 6-foot-5 Jimmy King, 6-foot-6 Ray Jackson and 6-foot-8 Jalen Rose.

It did not matter who guarded Williams in this game because he was in a zone.

When Williams grew up in Garner, North Carolina, he “garnered” the nickname “The Show” because of the show he put on for basketball fans.

Williams put on a show in the 1993 national championship for sure. This performance stands as one of the best all-time in Tar Heel basketball history.
