Jordan Brand releases shirts derived from Michael Jordan’s ‘ceiling is the roof’ phrase
Apparently if you’re Michael Jordan, even your mistakes aren’t mistakes.
When the basketball icon walked out to mid-court at halftime of the North Carolina and Duke game last Saturday, it was to announce the partnership between Jordan Brand and the UNC football team.
Nobody knew that he would say something that would resonate far beyond the scope of North Carolina athletics.
When explaining what direction Jordan wanted to see the North Carolina football program go in, he stated that “the ceiling is the roof”.
Below, you can hear the entire speech and the phrase in question can be found at the 4:10 mark.
Indeed, the ceiling is the roof.
And since Jordan coined the phrase, it has taken on a life of its own on television and in social media. Now, Jordan and his division of Nike seem to have fully embraced the slip-up that has taken the sporting world by storm.
As far as Roy Williams is concerned, the ceiling can be the roof. pic.twitter.com/tuad51o1xU

There’s no doubt that this will turn out to be yet another successful venture for Jordan and the brand that uses his world-famous likeness, further illustrating the simple truth that we all just want to be like Mike.
