With the ACC tourney upon us, who makes the cut for the Top 25 ultimate ACC player rankings?

With ACC season finally over, player awards handed out, a tournament on its way and the end of the season rankings in place, I thought it might be a good idea to do an All-ACC top 25 ultimate player rankings.

First, I took all of the players who played on one of the 15 ACC teams and required a minimum of 250 minutes played as well as an average of 15 minutes per game in order to be eligible. This allowed for talented players who suffered injury to be eligible. With those parameters in place, I came up 102 eligible players.

From there, I used the ultimate player rankings formula (a combination of true shooting percentage and intangibles percentage; for a better description, click here), to narrow these 102 players down to a fit and neat 25.

Now before we get into that, I want to mention a few notable omissions to this list with their rank in parenthesis. Top ten scorers Jerome Robinson (86), Dwayne Bacon (75), Jamel Artis (34), Michael Young (41), and Andrew White III (38) did not make the cut. Neither did All-ACC players London Perrantes (64), Jaron Blossomgame (63), Davon Reed (36), and Donovan Mitchell (39).

Finally, ACC Rookie of the Year Dennis Smith Jr. (26) and ACC Player of the Year Justin Jackson (44) did not get enough points to sneak into the ultimate top 25. Now before you lose it, the ultimate rankings looks beyond just points, and while Jackson did score a lot of points, he didn’t do it very efficiently, nor did he do a whole lot else.

On the whole, 13 of the 15 teams placed at least one player (sorry Miami and NC State). The most any team had was four, a mark shared by North Carolina and Virginia Tech.

So with that all covered, let’s delve into the top 25 ACC Ultimate Player Rankings.
