ACC Tournament: 10 players who will make an impact in Brooklyn
John Collins was a late bloomer this season in the sense that he caught many people off-guard.
His continuous development throughout this season yielded All-ACC first team honors.
Collins averaged 19.1 points and 9.8 rebounds this season. He is strictly a low post player who bangs down low, gets rebounds and defends opponents’ bigs.
Despite Wake Forest lacking a lot of big wins, they beat No. 8 Louisville 88-81. Collins led the Demon Deacons with 25 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Collins was one of the best players on the court consistently throughout the season. He scored double figures in every game during the 2016-17 season except two games, against Florida State and North Carolina.
Wake Forest’s scrappy team headlined by Collins’ blue collar style of play could pose a possible upset for any high-ranked team in the ACC Tournament.
Collins has been projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. If he decides to go pro after this season, then enjoy his college games while you can. Do not sleep on this young man. His upside is tremendous and he has not peaked yet.
