UNC- 75

Duke- 73

Player of the game: Hubert Davis (16 points, 5-of-11 FG)

Carolina matched up with Duke this time in a top ten matchup. Carolina came into the game ranked number nine in the Country, while Duke was ranked number one. This Duke team eventually went on to win its second straight NCAA title.

Because this game was in February, the ACC was not clearly on the line, but every time these two teams match up, it is going to be intense. This game right here brought us one of the most iconic pictures in rivalry history.

Eric Montross stepped to the line late in the game, and looked like a street fighter. Montross had taken a couple of elbows late in the game, and was bleeding from his left eye. Montross proceeded to knock down both free throws, and the Heels went on to win the game.

Current North Carolina assistant coach Hubert Davis was big for the Heels in this one. Davis was good for 16 points that night for the Heels, assuring the Heels the win over top ranked Duke.
