UNC- 75

Duke- 73

Player of the game: Sean May (26 points, 24 rebounds… Need I say more?)

Much like the 2009 game, this game was crucial for the Heels. On a day where the Heels played without Rashad McCants, they still locked up the ACC regular season crown. Carolina was put ahead by its freshman Marvin Williams late in the game, but the hero was Sean May.

May was sensational for the day.

He dominated on offense with 26 points, but was even better on the boards with 24 rebounds, twelve offensive. Jackie Manuel also had a good day for the Heels on his senior day, with twelve points.

It is easy to tell by the score that this game was a classic, but without setting up the story, it is easy to forget how great this game was. The Heels trailed by nine with three minutes to go, and then the comeback was on. Carolina got the lead down to two late in the game, and then, perhaps the loudest moment in Dean Dome history.

Marvin Williams etched his name in Tar Heel lore with that put back right there. Leaving the Heels up one with 17 seconds, and Williams going to the line.

That moment, and that game will forever be remembered, and for some, it was the moment it felt that Carolina basketball was BACK.
