Outfield play

The Heels will return a solid stable of outfielders from last season. Tyler Ramirez, who left for the MLB Draft, is the only departure in the outfield. Replacing Ramirez will be no small task, but this outfield should not have many problems doing so.

Adam Pate, a senior from Pikeville, NC, will be the captain of the outfield. According to the UNC baseball yearbook, Pate is the only player on the current roster with NCAA Tournament experience.

Pate is not much of a power threat at the plate, but he can be counted on to get on base. Pate boasts a .403 OBP from last season. In the outfield, Pate is also solid. Pate recorded a .970 fielding percentage, and only committed three errors all last year.

Brian Miller will embark on his first season as a full-time outfielder this year for the Heels. Miller led the squad with a .345 batting average last year, and had twelve doubles.

Miller has reeled in some preseason accolades, becoming a second team all-American by nearly every single college baseball media source.

Brian is also an incredible fielder. He notched a .982 fielding percentage last season, making him one of the best on the team.

Other outfielders include Brandon Riley, and Tyler Lynn. Riley who will become an everyday fielder this season was a strong hitter for the Heels last season. Lynn, a second-year transfer student, will likely be the odd man out, but he is extremely reliable in the outfield, committing only one error all last year.
