Bullpen

North Carolina’s bullpen seems to be by committee this season. The Heels lost bullpen anchor Spencer Trayner to the draft over the offseason.

While there are several names will be big for the Heels this season, but the biggest name out of scrimmages would be Hansen Butler. Butler, a right-handed junior from High Point, NC, will be the Heels anchor out of the bullpen. Last season, Butler posted a 2.00 ERA in 14 appearances, and surrendered only 15 hits.

Another guy the Diamond Heels will use out of the bullpen will be Brett Daniels. Daniels was phenomenal in his 37.1 innings of relief last season. Daniels held his opponents to a .231 batting average in his time on the mound.

The Heels will be looking to get a lot out of their bullpen this upcoming season. As every baseball fan knows, the key to being a good team, is having a strong bullpen, and it seems as if the Heels have that this season.

Among other names to watch out for out of the bullpen for the Heels will be Taylor Sugg, and red shirt freshman Trevor Gay.

The Heels have had some power players in the past come out of the bullpen. This past postseason was dominated by former Tar Heels pitcher Andrew Miller.
