UNC Recruiting Roundup: Updates on football and basketball for 12/8
UNC target Zion Williamson putting up big numbers
Spartanburg Day junior Zion Williamson is having a terrific season, averaging 35 points, 11.9 rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game.
Maybe that explains why he’s got offers from dozens of schools including Arizona, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina and UCLA.
He’s a 6-foot-7, 220-pound small forward with off-the-charts athleticism and uncanny scoring ability. Just ask Asheville Christian Academy, who he threw down a monstrous dunk on and scored 38 total points.
That dunk can be seen here.
Oddly enough, that game is the aberration. He’s also had recent games of 41, 43 and 50 points.
With UNC preparing to lose seniors Kennedy Meeks, Isaiah Hicks and Nate Britt as well as potentially saying goodbye to juniors Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II, they desperately need talented replacements in the upcoming recruiting cycles.
Unlikely to hit on 2017 prospects Kevin Knox and Jarred Vanderbilt, Williamson would be a huge addition to the Tar Heels’ roster in 2018.
