Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire to visit UNC

Multiple sources have reported that Notre Dame graduate transfer Malik Zaire has scheduled visits to North Carolina and Wisconsin.

The senior quarterback is set to graduate this month and announced last week that he will play his fifth and final season elsewhere.

While North Carolina and Wisconsin seem to be the favorites at this point, Pittsburgh is also in the running for the 2014 Music City Bowl MVP.

Last week, Zaire was granted an unconditional release from Notre Dame and will immediately be eligible to play wherever he chooses to go next season. Surprisingly, North Carolina wasn’t an exception to the release, despite playing Notre Dame in 2017.

UNC quarterback Mitch Trubisky is only a redshirt junior, but expected by many to declare early for the NFL Draft. Todd McShay has Trubisky as his No. 1 quarterback prospect in 2017.

With that in mind, North Carolina could be a prime destination for Zaire next season.
