3. Chazz Surratt

Coming out of high school, Chazz Surratt was a more highly regarded prospect than Byrd. Surratt was a Parade All-American his senior season of high school, and the Gatorade Player of the Year in  the state of North Carolina.

Surratt put up incredible numbers throughout his senior season, and pretty much his whole high school career. He had a career record of 56-6 and was responsible for 229 touchdowns in four seasons.

He’s the No. 8 dual-threat QB in the class of 2016. He’s a mobile quarterback with good size at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. Don’t be fooled by his size, though. He’s extremely quick on his feet.

There have been concerns about his accuracy, but there is no doubt about his ability to run the up-tempo offense. The good thing is, if accuracy is an issue for him early on, it can be fixed so it doesn’t cause problems in the long-term.

It’s not a stretch to compare Surratt to Marcus Mariota. He certainly looks to have that kind of potential early on in his career. And once his arm has time to develop, he could end up being a terrific quarterback for the Tar Heels.
