UNC commit Coby White is the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina

UNC commit Coby White is the top player in the state of North Carolina in the class of 2018 according to Prep Hoops North Carolina.

Prep Hoops North Carolina is one of three major recruiting services in North Carolina, along with NC Preps and Phenom Hoop Report. On Tuesday, Prep Hoops released its updated 2017 class rankings which ranks UNC commit Brandon Huffman as the state’s fourth best player in the senior class.

White, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard committed to UNC in July just days after Roy Williams offered him a scholarship. In the time since, White has performed well and his stock continues to rise.

Fellow 2018 commit Rechon Black, formerly the No. 1 player in the state, transferred to Montverde Academy near Orlando, Florida and is no longer eligible for the North Carolina rankings.

In earning the top spot in the rankings, White beat out another highly-touted prospect in point guard Devon Dotson who is also being recruited by Roy Williams and the UNC coaching staff.
