UNC Basketball: Highlanders vs. Tar Heels game preview
Impact Freshmen
Radford: G Donald Hicks
The freshman guard was the top recruit in the class. Rated as a one star by ESPN, Hicks has started all seven games for the Highlanders this season. He has been useful averaging 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 25 minutes per game.
He will be faced up against either Kenny Williams or Nate Britt and both will be a learning experience for the young guard from Chesapeake, Virginia.
North Carolina: G Seventh Woods
Woods gets the highlight this game as a weakness was revealed against Indiana. When Joel Berry sat down with two fouls, the Tar Heels went colder than normal. A lot of that had to do with the fact no one could bring the ball up and get it inside. That is where Woods comes in.
In nine minutes against Indiana, the freshman had two steals and assist against just one turnover. Woods is a combo guard, but at 6-foot-2 he has enough vision and skill to give Berry a break and come in when needed. Games like Radford are key for developing depth and confidence for young players like Woods.
