2017 power forward Sterling Manley signs with UNC

On Wednesday morning, 2017 big man Sterling Manley became the first of North Carolina’s four commits to sign with the Tar Heels.

During a ceremony held at his high school in Pickerington, Ohio, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound power forward signed his letter of intent to play basketball for UNC in the fall of 2017.

Manley committed to the Tar Heels in mid-October, just a day after his official visit at UNC.

Other than three-star forward Brandon Huffman, the Tar Heels are yet to sign any other front court players in the 2017 class. And considering the lack of depth that UNC will likely have, Manley projects to play a lot of minutes in his freshman season.

His importance can’t be overstated, given that the Heels lose seniors Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks after this season.
