The North Carolina Tar Heels had one job on Saturday.

They accomplished that job and have put themselves in position to make a run at another ACC Coastal Division title.

UNC’s win over Miami on Saturday was huge. It was a must-win for the Tar Heels after a disaster just a week prior against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

But now, all of a sudden things are looking up.

The Tar Heels played well out of the gate, jumping out to a 20-3 lead at halftime. They wouldn’t score in the second half, but held off a late Miami run to leave Coral Gables with a 20-13 win.

With Virginia Tech losing, the Bears pull into a tie with the Hokies as both teams have one ACC loss. The Hokies hold the tiebreaker, so UNC would need to finish a game ahead of them unless there’s a three-way tie.

With Saturday’s win, UNC will now turn its attention to another ACC opponent on the road as they travel to take on the Virginia Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have struggled this season with a 2-4 overall record and 1-1 in the ACC. They suffered their first ACC loss of the year this past week against Pitt.
