Another week of ACC Football. Another round of Coastal Division Power Rankings

Week five was about staying alive and then staying alive.

That was the emphasis this weekend as every Power Five conference had at least one such game.

Let’s start in the Big Ten where Wisconsin was looking for a third top ten victory. Instead, the Badgers left Lansing with a L after one of the best interceptions ever:

Heading out west to the Pac 12, Utah looked to remain unbeaten. But it didn’t work out that way as they got stuffed at the goal line by Cal on three consecutive plays. Instead of seeing 5-0, they saw the clock run out on a big time stuff.

In the Big 12, Baylor looked to be in trouble against Iowa State. The Bears trailed 14 going into the fourth quarter. Fifteen minutes and 17 points later Baylor stayed undefeated with a last second field goal. West Virginia also stayed undefeated with 14 fourth quarter points of their own.

In case you are wondering, the Mountaineers and Bears meet in Morgantown on December 3rd, the last game of the season.

Down South the SEC and ACC Atlantic had some last second moments as well. Tennessee stayed unbeaten with a Hail Mary to end the game. The game-winning touchdown came ten seconds after Georgia thought they had won the game with a long score of their own.

Meanwhile, in ACC football land, the first top five matchup of the season did not disappoint. Lamar Jackson added to his Heisman candidacy with three more touchdowns on the season. However, Louisville fell just short to Clemson when the Cardinals WR stepped out of bounds one yard short of a first down on fourth and 12.

All that’s left is the Coastal Division. For the first time this season, there is a new bottom team. So while the top of the Coastal seems to be sorting itself out, the bottom is starting to become a little more chaotic.
