ACC Coastal Division Power Rankings: Preseason

Returning Starters: 8 offense/ 6 defense

Virginia Tech says goodbye to coach Frank Beamer, but not to Beamer ball. New head coach Justin Fuente is an offensive coach. However, he was smart enough to keep defensive coordinator Bud Foster around. Foster leads a defense that ranks in two of Phil Steele’s three defensive categories. This includes the top rankings in the Coastal for Defensive backs.

The Hokies also return 14 starters good for third in the Coastal. The eight starters on offense is tied for second best in the division. That gives Coach Fuente some veterans to work with. If the offense can score points and the defense does what it does, Virginia Tech may be a dark horse in the Coastal this season.
