UNC Bucket List: 25 Things All Tar Heels Fans Must Do
By Zack Pearson
Visit Sutton’s and eat there
Sutton’s Drug Store was founded in 1923 and serves aa family drugstore/restaurant. It is a staple in Chapel Hill.
What I love about Sutton’s is how they adorn the interior of the building with pictures of UNC athletes, students and local people. It’s a museum of former athletes taken pictures with students.
Although it is a drugstore, I don’t go there to fill my meds. The food is the bomb.com. Their restaurant cranks out American classics like hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and ice cream floats. In addition, they have deli sandwiches, wraps, homemade jams and Sutton’s apparel.
Sutton’s gives any Tar Heel alum and fan a walk through the past years of athletes and students.
Knowing that a sports great ate in this restaurant completes the aura and vibe. Not only that. Many alums, such as yours truly, come back to Chapel Hill to dine at Sutton’s to re-live their college days.
I can vouch for their food. It’s traditional and modern and most importantly, GOOD!
