Andre Smith will be starting at the linebacker position during the 2016 season. Smith was a true freshman in 2015. He entered the Russell Athletic Bowl game with 50 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception and one pass breakup.

Last season, Smith came up big when it counted. In the 26-19 win over Pittsburgh, Smith had a career-high 11 tackles, including six solo tackles. In the 45-34 win over North Carolina State, Smith finished the game with nine tackles (five solo tackles) and one interception.
