As stated in the previous slide, Williams rushed 158 times for 948 yards in 2015 for 13 touchdowns in addition to completing 218 passes for 3068 yards. Williams averaged six yards per carry. With Williams in the NFL now, Hood is in the position to carry more of the rushing load for the Tar Heels.

T.J. Logan continues to back up Hood on the depth chart at running back.

This season, junior Mitch Trubisky takes over the quarterback position. Trubisky’s style of play resembles last year’s quarterback Williams. Despite their striking similarities (in play, that is), do not expect Trubisky to run as much as Williams did last season.

Elijah Hood is the primary runner for the Tar Heels. Point blank.

In addition, Trubisky has a couple of high-profile weapons in Mack Hollins and Ryan Switzer. There is no need to Trubisky to run a great deal unless the pocket collapses. Hood is Trubisky’s security blanket. He represents one player who can single-handedly take over a game with his combination of power and speed.
