Though all three held on to win (and the next week as well), they all also could’ve lost, dooming their season. Two of those teams had their close call on the road, while Alabama’s was at home. UNC gets both Tech schools at home this season, though both are dangerous. Virginia Tech comes in between trips to FSU and Miami.

Georgia Tech comes after a bye week (Fedora is 2-2 after bye weeks). If UNC is looking ahead or is off it’s game, either could be the nail in UNC’s Coastal Coffin.

Trap games can make or break a season. It also doesn’t matter if you’re a true contender or fringe pretender. Look at three teams from last season who made the College Football Playoff. Alabama needed a TD with 2:24 remaining to beat Tennessee last season a week before playing #2 LSU.

Clemson needed a last second interception to hold off Louisville a week before they played #6 Notre Dame. Michigan State needed a TD with 43 seconds remaining to beat Rutgers a week before playing rival and #12 Michigan.
