Kendall Marshall was the 13th overall pick in 2012 to the Phoenix Suns

The first five picks in these rankings all took place before 2000. These next five take place after it. Starting at number five we find Kendall Marshall.

Marshall was an amazing point guard in college. He knew where all his players were and got them the ball not only leading the nation in assists but crushing the ACC assists total in 2012. Marshall’s injury in the 2012 NCAA tournament is often cited as the main reason the Heels didn’t play Kentucky for the National Championship.

Being a great assist man in college is one thing, but being one in the NBA is another. Marshall always lacked a shot and probably should’ve stayed in school for another two years. However that same wrist injury that cost the Heels a potential title, is the same thing that raised his stock so high in the NBA.

Since getting drafted 13th overall, Marshall has been traded twice and released three times in four years in the NBA. His best season came in the 2013-14 season for the Lakers. Marshall finished that season averaging 8 points and almost 9 assists per game. However, the Lakers finished that season 27-55 overall and Marshall was released. He has shown signs of good play, but has been hampered by injuries for most of his short career.
. . . Kendall Marshall. 5. team. 66
