Tar Heel Nation looks ahead to the 2016-17 college basketball season

On April 4th, 2016 the North Carolina Tar Heels were left shell-shocked after a heartbreaking defeat on college basketball’s biggest stage.

Now they’ll have to endure the departure of seniors Joel James, Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson.

Some players on the roster will be called upon to fill leadership roles previously held by Paige and Johnson. Others will be asked to play more minutes or multiple positions. Incoming freshman will have to earn playing time and find their place.

All the while, fans and pundits are left to wonder what the upcoming season holds. Will the Tar Heels, who still have an abundance of senior leadership and NCAA Tournament experience, be able to put together another deep run in the month of March? Or will the loss of the aforementioned players be too much to absorb?
