From a Boy to a Man

February 29th, 2016 marked Senior Night in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at the Smith Center.

In the case of senior forward Brice Johnson, it seemed to encapsulate his journey that began four years prior as a skinny freshman with raw ability but immaturity abound.

Johnson was able to put up big numbers and have a historically great season for North Carolina during his final act as a Tar Heel. It would not have been possible without the growth and maturity that we saw in Johnson from his freshman to senior season.

Credit Johnson for understanding what he needed to do to reach his full potential. Credit Roy Williams as well, who saw the potential long before Johnson himself saw it.

Listening to his Senior Night speech, it’s clear that Johnson leaves UNC stronger than when he arrived, a trait that will benefit him as he continues his journey through basketball, and life.
