Big Night in Tallahassee

When the Tar Heels traveled to Tallahassee in early January 2016, they knew they’d need solid contributions from Johnson to beat a gritty, physical Florida State team.

They got that and more.

With the Seminoles battling and refusing to fade, Johnson shined. He recorded 39 points and 23 rebounds, both records at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center on the Florida State University campus. His efforts proved to be the difference and helped the Tar Heels leave town with a 106-90 victory over Leonard Hamilton’s feisty squad.

Johnson’s final stat line for the night? He played 37 minutes, recording 39 points on 14-of-16 shooting from the floor, hitting 11 of his 16 free throw attempts, 23 rebounds, three steals, three blocks and one assist.
