Committing to North Carolina

On October 26th, 2011 Brice Johnson committed to the University of North Carolina, becoming the Tar Heels’ fourth player in the recruiting class of 2012. He joined point guard Marcus Paige, small forward J.P. Tokoto and big man Joel James.

Johnson had been ranked anywhere from 25th to 50th depending on the high school recruiting media outlet, critiqued as a long, lengthy player with good leaping ability and athleticism.

Johnson received scholarship offers from Connecticut, Florida and Louisville among others. In the end, it was North Carolina that got his commitment, beginning a memorable four year journey in Chapel Hill.

“It was an all-around fit and it had everything that meets my standards and it’s a little closer to home,” Johnson said via ESPN. “It has great coaching, a good system and [is] great school-wise.”
